This is my first baby bump cake! It was made for a friend's baby shower. The cake is chocolate with strawberry cream cheese frosting, covered in MMF. I liked it asymmetrical at first, but I fixed the bottom later to make it even. It was a lot of fun to make!

How to Train Your Dragon Cake
This is another allergy friendly cake: no eggs, no dairy. It is a chocolate cake filled with dark chocolate ganache and iced with a mild lemon buttercream. Of course, its covered in MMF! The dragon is Night Fury from How to Train Your Dragon, and is also made of fondant. The boys loved watching me make this cake, and say they are going to decorate cakes with me when they are older :) Maybe they can give Duff a run for his money! On another note, my oven is still broken and so I had to call (again) on a good friend and their oven! Good news, though: the new oven comes tomorrow! I can resume all baking, in my own kitchen :)

Firetruck Cake

My first allergy free cake! I made this for a little boy with egg and milk allergies, and boy did I learn a lot about alternatives to milk, eggs and butter! My oven completely quit working for the first two batches of cake, so I borrowed a friend's (thank God for good friends!) and had a good time while my cakes baked! This is another lemon cake with soy lemon buttercream and fresh blueberries. It actually tasted so yummy, no one could tell it was allergy friendly! This was probably the most challenging cake I have done yet because of the substitutes and the effects it had on the fondant, but all in all I am happy with it. The fondant dalmation puppy may just be my favorite part :)

Gina's Gift Box Cake

This was a cake I made for a friend's surprise baby shower. Can you tell I am at the stage of life when all my friends are either pregnant or have little kids? :) I loved making this cake. There were a few bumps in the road, and it was the first time I ever tore fondant off a cake and started over. Lets just say that summer in the south has arrived, and the heat and humidity taught me a lesson on keeping the house cool (yay for AC!!!) when working with MMF! On another note, I have to say I love the bow. It turned out better than I hoped! This was another lemon cake filled with lemon buttercream and fresh blueberries, and of course iced in lemon buttercream followed by MMF. The bow is actually made of fondant, not gum paste, and I used gold luster dust to give it the sparkle.
Jungle Cake and Smasher
This cake was a learning experience for sure! It was my first time using gum paste and modeling chocolate. The cake is chocolate with chocolate buttercream, and the smasher is chocolate with vanilla buttercream. Nice and messy for precious Nolan's first birthday cake in the face! The animals are (with the exeptions of the elephant, which is fondant) made of either dark or white modeling chocolate, and the cake is of course covered with MMF, like all my cakes., except for the smasher, which is only buttercream. The giraffe on the smasher is gum paste. I actually really like working with modeling chocolate, and it tastes so good!
Aidan's Dinosaur Cake

Yummy chocolate fondant, happy son who LOVES dinosaurs! I would post a closer up picture of this, but my other son who loves helping (a.k.a. EATING) everything I make tore some of the palms fronds off, which I had to then put back on. Lots of imperfections, but a happy 4 year old, so I am satisfied! This cake was chocolate with chocolate fudge buttercream and chocolate fondant. Yum.
Anna's Baby Shower Cake

Ahh, my first marshmallow fondant cake! I had so much fun making this cake, and learned so much (like NOT to put a fondant cake in the fridge..lol) making it. Every cake is a new learning experience, and while I am no pro, I love making things for friends and family when I get the opportunity. I am so glad you were surprised, Anna! This is a lemon cake with lemon buttercream and filled with fresh blueberries. It is my favorite and the most popular flavor I make so far!
